  Cornish Workshop
  Now this is a really interesting website, non-commercial and fun to read. We were in Cornwall last November and never found it - we would have loved to - bt it is a fun, interesting site.
  Classic Hand Tools
  In deepest Suffolk, Mike is a good friend and like us has been in the tool business for many years and offers a wide range of quality new tools.
  Union Hill Antiques
  Another interesting site with some superb examples of old tools and a lot of information.
  Hans Brunner
  A great site by old friends Hans & Janine (well Gerry & Hans go back a long way in the tool business) in Queensland, Australia! On the Gallery page there are pictures of some superb tools but sadly not for wale.
  David Charlesworth
  David has been a professional cabinet maker for over 35 years and a teacher for 30. He runs short and long courses at Harton Manor Workshop in North Devon and has written books and produced dvds on furniture making and handtools techniques. And the workshop is in a very beautiful part of North Devon.
  Boat Building Academy, Lyme Regis
  Based on Lyme Regis's famous Monmouth beach in Dorset the BBA offers long and short boatbuilding courses, plus basic woodworking skills courses. They are practical, intensive, some leading to City and Guilds Certificates.
  Association of Woodturners of Great Britain
  Like it says the AWGB is an international, non-profit making organisation to support and encourage all aspects of woodturning. It's site is interesting, wide ranging and very informative.
 
Places to visit or stay in and around the Axe Valley and Jurassic Coast
  Beer, Devon
  This is the best site if you want to find out about Beer as a community, its history and where to go and what is going on in the area. The site is maintained by a local Beer enthusiast and is the best.
  Jimmy Green Marine, Beer
  Jimmy Green is a Beer family partnership with a wide ranging chandlery (The Meadows)and another shop (Fore Street) selling surf-style-wear (Quiksilver, Billabong, O'Neill. Wrangle, Helly Hansen, etc., etc.), sailing jackets/bibs and snow-sport technical clothing in a huge number of makes. Open 7 days a week.
Pecorama - Gardens, Games and Trains - an day out for all the family
  An outing for all the family. Peco is the the single largest UK manufacturer devoted exclusively to the production of model railway tracks and accessories covering all of the popular gauges. The headquarters are located close to us in the picturesque fishing village of Beer where it has an indoor exhibition, its own Beer Heights Light Railway powered by miniature steam and diesel locomotives), childrens play areas, crazy golf, cafes & restaurant. We often take our grandchildren there and they enjoy every minute of it. The indoor railway displays and the outdoor play area are their favourites.
  Seaton Tramway
  Operating trams between Seaton, Colyford and Colyton. A fun and interesting journey for all the family with a good cafe/restaurant in Colyton. Look at their website which tells you everything you need to know.
Otterton Mill
  An historic mill building housing the work of local artists and craftspeople f - anything from greeting cards, furniture, ceramics, paintings, etc. , plus a wonderful restaurant, bakery,and it all revolves around a working watermill producing flour from organic maris widgeon corn grown on the West Dorset Coast.
The Donkey Sanctuary Sidmouth
  Just outside the town of Sidmouth, The Donkey Sanctuary is home to around 500 donkeys. The Donkey Sanctuary is open 365 days a year from 9.00 a.m. until dusk. Admission and parking are free. Visitors are free to spend as much time as they wish, meeting the donkeys.There are marked walks, nature trails, a visitors centre & shop, toilet facilities, restaurant & ice cream shop. It is very pushchair, wheelchair & dog friendly! Another place we love to bring our grandchildren. They love the donkeys, the cafe & ice cream shop are both excellent. Donations to the charity are always welcome.
Axe Valley Bird & Animal Park
  A small Bird and Animal Park just outside Kilmington and Axminster, so 10 miles from Beer. A lovely small farm park very very small children friendly with racoons, wallabies, porcupines, pigs and lots of birds. An excellent play area, with picnic tables, refreshments, toilets, free parking.
  River Cottage Local Produce Store and Canteen
  The River Cottage Local Produce Store and Canteen is located in the centre of Axminster on Trinity Square. It has a wide variety of produce which has been sourced locally by Hugh and his team. Also books plus smallholder supplies and specially chosen British wine, beers and spirits list (Gerry and both our sons love the Stinger beer). The Canteen offers the best from the South West. Look at their website to find out more. But definitely well worth a visit.

Oakdown Caravan Park , Weston, Sidmouth

  Takes Touring Caravans, Motor Caravans, Tents, Trailer Tents and Folding Campers. It has all the usual amenities including an excellent play area, beautiful surroundings, internet linkup, etc.
  Manor Farm Caravan Park, Seaton.
  A quiet, family-run site located within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, one mile from Seaton beach and the town centre and with spectacular views of the Axe Valley and Lyme Bay. Good facilities including a ntastic mini farm with small flock of sheep, goats, free-ranging chicken, ducks and shetland ponies.
The Harbour Inn, Axmouth
  One of our favourite local pubs, with an excellent restaurant and bar food, a large comfortable bar area, charming garden with a playhouse for children. Very congenial staff. Probably our favourite.
The Dolphin Hotel. Beer
  a very good, centrally situated hotel, with comfortable rooms, a good restaurant, friendly bar and very helpful staff. It is very reasonably priced, especially considering the comfort and service. Their website gives very full details. Oh yes, and dogs are also welcome!
 
And if you are thinking of going to France, two suggestions:
  High Recommended Bed & Breakfast in Brittany - La Vieille Grange
  A good, comfortable bed & breakfast in Brittany, 1 hour 15mins drive from St. Malo. in the lovely little village of Plouguenast 10 minutes drive from the medieval city of Moncontour. I can promise you comfortable rooms, lounge and an excellent breakfast.
